Easy Meals & Snacks for Busy Spring Break Days

Spring break sounds great until it’s Monday morning and you’ve got kids at home, nothing planned for lunch, and the question “what are we eating?” already coming at you before 9 a.m.

This isn’t about recipes. It’s about having the right stuff on hand so feeding everybody spring break meals through the week doesn’t feel like a second job. One good trip to Cash Saver and you’re set. Here’s how to think about it.

Breakfast That Handles Itself

Spring break mornings don’t have a schedule, and that’s fine. Stock the freezer and the fridge with things people can get into on their own, and you’ve already won half the battle.

  • Frozen waffles or pancakes: Williams sausage patties on the side if you want it to feel like a real breakfast without any real effort
  • Grab-and-go yogurts and string cheese: good for kids, honestly good for grown-ups too
  • A couple boxes of cereal: yes, it counts, and yes, everyone will eat it
  • Bananas, apples, and grapes: no prep, no mess, grab and go
  • Best Choice eggs if you’ve got ten minutes and want something a little more filling

The goal is a shelf or a drawer where anyone in the house can find breakfast without coming to find you first.

Build a Snack Station and Thank Yourself Later

Spring break weeks run on snacks. Kids graze all day, and if every “I’m hungry” turns into a full meal situation, nobody’s going to make it to Friday in one piece.

Clear out one shelf in the pantry or a bin in the fridge and fill it with things people can get into freely. Some go-tos that hold up well all week:

  • Best Choice chips or crackers with salsa: and if you pick up a can of Ro-Tel and some cheese, you’ve got queso in about five minutes
  • Peanut butter and crackers: simple, filling, and a crowd favorite
  • A big bag of popcorn goes further than you’d think
  • Pre-cut veggies with ranch dip if you want something that at least nods at balance
  • Juice boxes or drink pouches: whatever keeps the kitchen from turning into a disaster zone

A stocked snack station buys you time and sanity. That’s worth a lot during spring break.

Lunch Without a Plan

Lunch is the meal that sneaks up on you. It’s 10 a.m. and then suddenly it’s 1 p.m. and everyone is starving. You don’t need a plan. You just need options for spring break meals.

  • Deli meat with Bunny bread or Nature’s Own: sandwiches are quick, filling, and everybody knows how to make one. Grab King’s Hawaiian rolls if you want to make it feel like a little more of an occasion
  • Campbell’s chicken noodle or a pack of Maruchan: for the days when even a sandwich feels like too much effort. No judgment
  • Tortillas, shredded cheese, and whatever protein is nearby: quesadillas come together in five minutes and kids eat them every single time
  • Deli salads if you’re feeding adults and want something a little more substantial without any cooking

None of this requires a plan. It just requires having the stuff around.

Dinners That Don’t Ask Too Much

By dinnertime, the day has usually already been a lot. This is not the moment for complicated. A few reliable proteins and some easy sides will carry you through the whole week of spring break meals.

Rotisserie chicken is the most underrated thing in any grocery store. Already cooked, already seasoned, goes with just about anything — rice, salad, pasta, tortillas. Grab one and figure out the rest when you get home.

From there, keep it simple:

  • Certified Angus ground beef or ground turkey: tacos, pasta, a quick skillet, whatever sounds good that night
  • Sanderson Farms chicken thighs: season them, cook them, done
  • Frozen fish or shrimp for nights when you want something different without any extra work

For sides: Pictsweet frozen vegetables, Best Choice rice or pasta, a can of Always Save beans. Mix and match with whatever protein you grabbed. That’s a full week of dinners without a single recipe written down.

Don’t Forget One Sweet Thing

Spring break should feel like a break. That means there ought to be something sweet around: nothing elaborate, just something to end the day on a good note.

  • Blue Bell ice cream: Cash Saver carries it by the half gallon, and that’s almost always the right call
  • A brownie or cookie mix for an afternoon when you want an activity that also produces dessert
  • Little Debbie snack cakes or a Duchess honey bun: for the days when nobody has the energy for anything more than unwrapping something

One sweet thing in the house does a lot for morale. Trust the process.

Keep It Stocked, Keep It Simple

You don’t need a meal plan. You need a well-stocked fridge and pantry, and Cash Saver makes that part easy. One trip, and you’ve got breakfast, snacks, lunch, and dinner covered for the whole week without breaking the bank or spending the week in the kitchen.

Stock up, set up that snack station, and actually enjoy the break.

Easy Family Dinners for Cold February Nights

February is often the longest “short” month of the year. The holiday sparkle has faded, the ground is likely frozen, and the sun sets far too early. On these brisk nights, the kitchen shouldn’t be a place of stress; it should be a sanctuary of warmth and aromatic comfort.

With the wind howling outside, your dinner table needs to provide more than just calories—it needs to provide a sense of home. Winter cooking doesn’t require professional chef skills; it just requires a bit of planning and a focus on “sturdy” ingredients. Here is a guide to dependable family dinner favorites, updated with extra tips to make your February evenings a little brighter and much tastier.

Chili: The Ultimate Winter Lifeline

Chili is the MVP of February. It’s one of the few family dinners that actually tastes better the next day, making it a gift to your future self. A standard pot relies on pantry staples: ground beef or turkey, canned kidney or black beans, diced tomatoes, and a heavy hand of spices.

To elevate this beyond a basic bowl of beans, consider the “Chili Bar” approach. Set out small bowls of shredded sharp cheddar, sour cream, pickled jalapeños, and crushed tortilla chips. It turns a simple Tuesday dinner into an interactive family event that everyone can customize to their own heat tolerance.

Simple Tip: Add a small spoonful of unsweetened cocoa powder or a half-cup of leftover brewed coffee to the pot while it simmers. These ingredients don’t make the chili taste like dessert or breakfast; they provide an earthy, “roasted” depth that mimics a chili that’s been simmering for twelve hours on a wood stove.

The Shortcut Pot Pie

Few things are more nostalgic than a flaky pot pie fresh from the oven. While a traditional crust made from scratch is lovely, February is the month of the Store-Bought Shortcut. Using a rotisserie chicken and a refrigerated pie crust can cut your prep time in half without sacrificing that “home-cooked” soul.

The filling is essentially a thick, savory gravy teeming with peas, carrots, and corn. If you want to skip the pie crust entirely, top the filling with canned biscuits or even mounds of buttery mashed potatoes for a “Shepherd’s Pie” twist that stays warm long after it’s served.

Simple Tip: Brush the top of your crust with a beaten egg mixed with a teaspoon of water before baking. This “egg wash” creates that bakery-style golden sheen and a satisfying crunch when you break into the steam-filled center.

Hearty Baked Ziti

When in doubt, pasta is the answer. Baked Ziti is essentially a deconstructed lasagna—all the flavor, but half the labor. By boiling the pasta just shy of “al dente” before baking, you ensure the noodles soak up the sauce in the oven without turning to mush.

To make it heartier, brown some Italian sausage with plenty of garlic before mixing it with marinara. If you’re trying to sneak in some extra nutrition for the kids, finely chopped spinach or grated zucchini disappears easily into the red sauce and melted mozzarella.

Simple Tip: Stir a dollop of ricotta or even a splash of heavy cream into the red sauce before you layer it in the dish. It creates a “pink sauce” effect that makes the entire meal feel much more indulgent and prevents the pasta from drying out under the broiler.

Slow-Cooker Pot Roast

The slow cooker is a February essential. There is nothing quite like walking through the front door after a long day and being greeted by the scent of a roast that’s been braising for eight hours.

A “chuck roast” is the best cut for this; the fat breaks down over time, basting the meat and the surrounding carrots and potatoes in a rich jus. By the time you sit down, the meat should be “fork-tender,” meaning it requires almost no effort to shred and serve.

Simple Tip: Do not skip the “sear.” Spend five minutes browning the meat in a hot skillet with a little oil before putting it in the slow cooker. That caramelized crust provides a depth of flavor and a rich brown color that a slow cooker simply cannot replicate on its own.

Creamy “Loaded” Potato Soup

Soup is the culinary equivalent of a weighted blanket. Potato soup is particularly great because it is incredibly affordable and fills the stomach quickly. You only need a few pounds of Russet potatoes, an onion, some broth, and a bit of dairy to create a masterpiece.

For a “loaded” version, treat the soup like a baked potato. Top each bowl with crispy bacon bits, chopped chives, and a mountain of shredded cheese. Serve it alongside a loaf of crusty bread for dipping.

Simple Tip: For the perfect texture, use an immersion blender to blend only half of the soup directly in the pot. This leaves you with a thick, creamy base while still providing those chunky, satisfying bites of potato that make the meal feel substantial.

No-Peek Chicken and Rice Casserole

Casseroles are the heroes of the “one-pan” lifestyle. The “No-Peek” method is a classic for a reason: you combine uncooked rice, cream of mushroom or chicken soup, water, and seasoned chicken thighs in a pan, cover it tightly with foil, and let the oven do the work. The steam trapped inside cooks the rice to perfection while keeping the chicken incredibly juicy.

Simple Tip: Sprinkle a packet of dry onion soup mix over the top of the chicken before sealing the foil. It provides an instant hit of savory seasoning and salt that permeates the rice as it cooks, ensuring every bite is flavorful.

February doesn’t have to be a slog of cold salads and quick sandwiches. With these six rotations, your kitchen will stay warm, your family will stay full, and you’ll find that the “longest short month” passes by a little bit faster.

How Memphis Shops Smart at Cash Saver

In Memphis, grocery shopping is part of the weekly rhythm. You grab a cart, you see a neighbor you know, you stock up for the week ahead. Some weeks are bigger than others, but the goal is usually the same: feed your people well without overspending.

Over time, certain habits just stick. Memphis shoppers who make the most of their grocery budget tend to follow steady routines that keep things simple and practical.

Here’s what that looks like.

Start With a Short Weekly Plan

Before heading to the store, it helps to know what dinner looks like for the next few nights.

Nothing complicated. Just four or five meals written down somewhere — chili, baked chicken, spaghetti, tacos. Once you know the plan, check the fridge and pantry to see what’s already there.

A family pack of ground beef can carry two dinners. Chicken cooked early in the week can show up again in soup or salads later. When meals share ingredients, grocery trips feel more efficient and leftovers feel intentional.

A short plan keeps the cart focused.

Keep the Pantry Steady

Most Memphis kitchens are built around the same dependable staples.

Rice, pasta, canned tomatoes, beans, potatoes, broth, and frozen vegetables. These are the ingredients that show up again and again.

With a steady pantry, you can adjust midweek without starting from scratch. If the weather cools off, broth and rice turn into soup. If time runs short, pasta and sauce handle dinner without much effort.

Having these basics on hand gives you flexibility, and flexibility saves money.

Buy Larger Sizes When You’ll Use Them

Some items just make sense in bigger quantities.

If your household goes through rice every week, a larger bag stretches further. Family packs of meat can be divided and frozen into meal-sized portions. Cooking oil, sugar, and canned goods often cost less per serving when purchased in larger sizes.

The freezer helps a lot here. Portioning meat, freezing extra bread, or saving soup for later keeps food from going to waste.

It’s less about buying more and more about buying wisely.

Cook With Tomorrow in Mind

Dinner doesn’t have to end after one night.

A pot roast can become sandwiches the next day. Extra baked chicken works well in wraps or pasta. A large pot of chili usually tastes even better after sitting overnight.

When you cook slightly more than you need, you build in convenience for later in the week. That second meal is already handled, which makes busy evenings easier to manage.

Many Memphis households rely on this rhythm without even thinking about it.

Take a Quick Look at Unit Prices

Seasoned shoppers often glance at the smaller numbers on the shelf tag.

The unit price, cost per ounce or per pound, gives a clearer picture of value. Two products may look similar, but the unit cost can tell a different story.

It only takes a few seconds to compare, and over time, those small decisions add up.

Choose Produce That Works Hard

Fresh ingredients are important, especially when they can show up in multiple meals.

Bell peppers, onions, carrots, and potatoes move easily between soups, casseroles, and side dishes. Bananas and apples tend to last throughout the week. Frozen vegetables stretch even further and reduce waste since you can use only what you need.

Selecting produce with flexibility in mind helps everything in the cart work together.

Mix Convenience With Practicality

Some weeks are busier than others.

Pre-washed greens, jarred sauces, rotisserie chicken, or frozen items can make dinner manageable when schedules fill up. Used thoughtfully, these items save time and keep the week on track.

There’s room for both scratch cooking and convenience. Memphis shoppers tend to blend the two depending on what the week requires.

Small Habits, Big Difference

Smart shopping at Cash Saver comes down to steady habits.

A short meal plan.

A well-stocked pantry.

Buying larger sizes when it makes sense.

Using leftovers on purpose.

Checking unit prices.

Choosing ingredients that work across meals.

Over time, those habits make grocery trips feel smoother and meals feel easier to manage. Around here, feeding your family well and watching your budget go hand in hand.

Snow in Memphis? Memphis Cash Saver Is Ready.

Snowstorms in Memphis have a way of changing plans fast. One minute it’s cold rain, the next the city slows down, roads get tricky, and grocery lists suddenly focus on the basics — bread, milk, warm meals, and staying put.

Right now, Memphis Cash Saver is stocked, steady, and open, even as winter weather continues across the Mid-South.

Stocked and Prepared While the Storm Continues

As this snowstorm moves through Memphis, our teams are staying ahead of demand. Thanks to early preparation and a flexible supply chain, our shelves remain stocked with everyday essentials and snow-day staples.

Local news has highlighted how Cash Saver prepared ahead of the storm, stocking up on high-demand items and remaining operational even during frigid conditions. That preparation is making a difference for shoppers right now — especially as other retailers face challenges restocking during severe weather.

The Advantage of Shopping Local During a Storm

Large, big-box retailers often rely on long, rigid supply chains that can slow down when weather disrupts deliveries. As a locally operated grocery store, Memphis Cash Saver has the ability to adapt quickly and respond in real time to what Memphis shoppers actually need.

That flexibility allows us to:

  • Prepare earlier for increased demand
  • Adjust inventory as shopping patterns shift
  • Keep essential items available while the storm continues

When conditions change by the hour, local decision-making matters.

Calm, Reliable Shopping When You Need It Most

Even during a snowstorm, grocery shopping shouldn’t feel chaotic. Our focus right now is keeping stores organized, shelves full, and the shopping experience calm and manageable.

Whether you’re grabbing a few essentials, stocking up for a couple of days, or picking up comfort foods to get through the cold, you can shop with confidence at Memphis Cash Saver.

Here for Memphis, Even in the Snow

Snow in Memphis may be rare, but taking care of our neighbors isn’t. Memphis Cash Saver is part of this community, and during weather like this, that commitment shows up in real ways — stocked shelves, open doors, and flexibility when it matters most.

As the storm continues, we’re here to serve Memphis families the best way we know how.

Stay warm. Stay safe. And thank you for choosing to shop local.

’Twas the Night Before Christmas Dinner

’Twas the night before Christmas dinner, the house all a-flutter,
With pots stacked by stoves and counters wiped of their clutter.
The ovens stood ready, the pans tucked away,
For a feast in the making come Christmas Day.

No need for perfection, no stress in the air,
Just the comfort of knowing soul food would be there.
Recipes remembered, not written or read,
Passed down in stories instead of in thread.

The greens would be simmered, cooked low and just right,
Casseroles queued for their moment to shine bright.
Gravy would thicken by feel, not by rule,
Rolls would disappear off the rack, warm and foolproof.

In the living room, laughter drifted with cheer,
Kids counting the hours til morning was here.
Mugs waited patiently, cocoa in mind,
And sweet little treats were already being eyed.

The fridge held its secrets of pie yet to come,
Of something poured creamy and desserts made for some.
The table stood waiting for plates piled high,
For seconds and thirds and the long goodbye.

This is Christmas in Memphis, familiar and true,
Where the food fills the house and the heart does too.
It lingers, it stretches, it lasts all day long,
With leftovers wrapped up before dessert comes along.

And when lights dimmed low and the kitchen went still,
Every pan sat ready, each space set to fill.
The feast was prepared, the people were near,
And Christmas dinner would soon be here.

From Deviled Eggs to Dessert: Memphis Thanksgiving Made Easy

A Midtown Holiday Menu Made With Love

Thanksgiving in Midtown Memphis has its own kind of magic. It is porch lights glowing at dusk, kids racing across leaves in the front yard, and kitchens warming up long before the guests arrive. At Memphis Cash Saver, we love being part of the traditions that make this holiday feel like home. So this year, we pulled together a full Thanksgiving menu using featured items from our November circular. Think of it as your one stop shop for feeding the whole family with Memphis heart.

Start With Appetizers Everyone Knows

Every good Thanksgiving begins with a snack spread. It keeps hungry family members from wandering into the kitchen asking when dinner will be ready. Fill your starters table with:

  • Deviled eggs made with fresh eggs and Blue Plate Mayo
  • A big salad using Dole Classic Romaine or Greener Selection Salad, tomatoes on the vine, Best Choice croutons, and Kraft salad dressing
  • Knott’s Pimento Cheese in original or jalapeno with crackers

And yes, we know the rule. There must be a salad at Thanksgiving. It must be placed on the table in a nice bowl. Someone must pretend to take some. Will anyone actually eat it? That remains one of the great holiday mysteries.

The Main Event Begins With Ham

If your family prefers ham to turkey, we have you covered. Cook’s Smoked Ham comes in both butt and shank portions and fills your home with that classic holiday aroma the moment it goes into the oven. Slice it thick, serve it warm, and watch it disappear faster than you expected.

Sides That Steal the Spotlight

Everyone knows the sides are the real stars of Thanksgiving. No matter how beautiful the ham is, nothing compares to the comfort of a full Southern spread. Stock up on:

  • Fresh Turnip, Mustard, and Collard Greens
  • Best Choice Cranberry Sauce in whole berry or jellied
  • Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix
  • Wonder Dinner Rolls in the classic 12 count package

These are the dishes that never disappoint. They are the flavors that bring people back to the table for seconds and maybe even thirds.

Dessert To End the Night Right

You are already halfway to dessert heaven with Pillsbury Pie Crusts in regular and deep dish. Add Prairie Farms Egg Nog or Holiday Custard to sip alongside your pie and you have a sweet finish everyone will love.

If you need pie inspiration, here’s a great recipe from Julia Child herself.

Julia Child Inspired Fluffy Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 Pillsbury deep dish pie crust
  • 1 can pumpkin puree
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • Sugar
  • Pumpkin pie spice
  • A splash of milk or evaporated milk
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Bake your pie crust according to package directions and let it cool.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the pumpkin, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, egg yolks, milk, and salt until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until they form soft peaks.
  4. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the pumpkin mixture. This is the magic step that creates the fluffy, cloud like texture.
  5. Pour the filling into the cooled crust and bake at 350 degrees until set. The center will jiggle slightly but should not be liquid.
  6. Cool completely before slicing.

Whether your table is filled with family, neighbors, coworkers, or friends who feel like home, Memphis Cash Saver is here to make your Thanksgiving delicious, warm, and wonderfully Memphis.

Cozy Up, Memphis: Chili Season Starts at Cash Saver

The air is getting cooler, football is on every weekend, and kitchens across Memphis are starting to smell like simmering spices. It is officially chili season.

Whether you have a blue-ribbon recipe that has been passed down for generations or you are just throwing together a hearty pot for game day, Cash Saver has everything you need to make a batch that keeps the whole crew warm and happy.

Build Your Base

Every good chili starts with the basics. Stock up on:

  • Fresh ground beef or turkey, rich and hearty as the foundation of a great pot
  • Onion, garlic, and peppers, diced up for that flavor punch
  • Canned tomatoes, whether crushed, diced, or fire-roasted
  • Tomato paste, for that deep, slow-cooked flavor

Beans or No Beans?

That is the age-old chili debate. Either way, Cash Saver has you covered:

  • Kidney beans, pinto beans, or black beans for a classic chili with beans
  • Skip the beans for a Texas-style version with just meat, spice, and tomato

Spice It Just Right

Chili is all about the seasoning. Make sure your spice rack is stocked with:

  • Chili powder, cumin, paprika, and garlic powder
  • Crushed red pepper or hot sauce for a Memphis-style kick
  • Salt and pepper to balance it all out

Pro tip: Add a fresh jalapeño or two for extra heat.

Toppings That Take It Over the Top

The fun part of chili is dressing it up. Swing by the dairy case, produce section, and bakery aisle for:

  • Shredded cheese
  • Sour cream
  • Green onions
  • Jalapeños
  • Crackers or cornbread (a box mix makes baking easy)

For an extra Memphis twist, serve your chili over spaghetti or a baked potato for a true Southern comfort classic.

Do Not Forget the Extras

A big pot of chili pairs perfectly with other fall favorites you will find at Cash Saver:

  • Fritos or Doritos for chili pie
  • Nature’s Own Bread for buttered toast on the side
  • Pepsi, Coke, or sweet tea to wash it all down
  • Nestlé Toll House Cookie Dough for dessert while the chili simmers

  3. Drain and rinse beans in a fine mesh strainer or colander then measure out 1 cup.
  4. Add Neufchatel cheese to soup along with corn, whole beans and pureed beans and stir well. Simmer 5 – 10 minutes longer.

Tailgate Like a Champ with Memphis Cash Saver

Football season in Memphis is more than just a game. It’s a tradition. It’s Tigers blue crowding Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium (…The Liberty Bowl). It’s a backyard grill fired up before kickoff. It’s folding chairs, coolers, laughter, and the smell of smoky sausages in the air.

Around here, tailgating isn’t just about food. It’s about community. At Memphis Cash Saver, we’re here to make sure your tailgate is stocked with everything you need, from grill-ready meats to icy cold drinks and snacks that keep everyone cheering until the final whistle.

Fire Up the Grill

Every great Memphis tailgate starts with the sizzle. Cash Saver keeps the grill stacked with all the classics:

  • Circle B Smoked Sausage — A Memphis favorite, hearty enough to feed a crowd. Slice it, grill it, and serve it with a side of mustard.
  • Banquet Brown ’N Serve Sausage — Quick, easy, and perfect for early kickoffs or breakfast tailgates.
  • Hamburger patties & buns — Load ‘em up with cheese, onions, and pickles for that backyard bite.
  • Hot dogs & buns — Because no tailgate is complete without kids running around with ketchup-stained smiles.

And don’t forget to grab Nature’s Own Bread for sandwiches, sausage rolls, and those late-game snack plates when everyone’s coming back for seconds.

Snacks That Go the Distance

When the game gets tight, you need fuel that’s easy to grab between high-fives. Stock your table with:

  • Doritos Tortilla Chips and Pringles — bold flavors and crunch you can hear over the crowd.
  • Creamy dips and spreads — queso, guac, salsa, and Pancho’s Cheese Dip, the Memphis legend.
  • Fresh-baked cookies from Nestlé Toll House Dough — warm, gooey, and perfect for halftime.

Pro tip: Lay out a mix of salty, savory, and sweet so there’s something for every fan in your crew.

Cold Drinks, Hot Crowd

You know Memphis heat doesn’t stop just because it’s fall. Keep the cooler ready with something for everybody:

  • Outlaw Light Beer — easy-drinking and tailgate-tested.
  • Miller Lite or Coors Light — in 16 oz. aluminum bottles that stay cold longer.
  • Modelo Especial — a smooth, flavorful pick for the whole team.
  • Stella Rosa Wines — a game day twist for fans who want something sweet in their glass.

Non-alcoholic fans don’t miss out either:

  • Turkey Hill Tea or Lemonade — classic Southern sips.
  • Pepsi, Mountain Dew, or Starry 12-packs — keep the fizz flowing.
  • Lipton Tea bottles — portable and refreshing.
  • Fanta, Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Dr Pepper 2-liters — crowd staples that never go out of style.

Memphis Game Day Essentials

Every Memphian knows it’s the little extras that make the tailgate. Stock up on:

  • Condiments like BBQ sauce (of course), ketchup, and mustard.
  • Paper goods and plastic cups so cleanup doesn’t steal your post-game mood.
  • Ice, ice, and more ice. Nobody wants warm beer in the third quarter.

And since this is Memphis, don’t be surprised if somebody shows up with a portable speaker blasting Al Green or Three 6 Mafia. It’s just how we do tailgates here: food, music, and family all in one.

Tailgating Made Easy

At Memphis Cash Saver, we know game day isn’t just about football. It’s about tradition, pride, and a spread that feeds the whole block without draining your wallet. That’s why we keep our shelves loaded with tailgate-ready favorites, so all you need to worry about is cheering until your voice gives out.

Hot, Fresh, and Full of Flavor: Memphis Cash Saver’s Hot Bar

If you’ve ever walked into Memphis Cash Saver around lunchtime, you know where the crowd is. The grocery aisles are steady, sure, but the real action is at the hot bar. The glass is fogged, the trays are steaming, and the line is full of folks who know this is the best spot in Midtown for comfort food that tastes homemade without the hassle.

For regulars, it’s more than just a quick meal. The Cash Saver hot bar has become part of the rhythm of the neighborhood — where coworkers swing by on their lunch break, families pick up dinner after a long day, and Sunday churchgoers stop in for plates piled high with Southern classics.

Always Chicken, Always Fresh

One thing you can count on every day is Rick’s 5-Star Fried Chicken. Crispy, golden, and seasoned just right, it’s a Midtown staple and the star of the hot bar. It’s the kind of chicken that crunches on the outside, stays juicy on the inside, and has built a loyal following all its own.

Rotating Flavors That Keep It Interesting

While the chicken holds down its spot, the rest of the hot bar lineup changes regularly, which means there’s always something new to try. Depending on the day, you might find:

  • Fried or lemon-butter baked fish fillets topped with slices of lemon
  • Slow-cooked ribs or turkey legs, tender and hearty
  • Soul food staples like chitterlings, pepper steak, or oxtail
  • Southern sides including mac & cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, candied yams, dressing, and cornbread

Every visit brings a slightly different spread, so there’s always a reason to come back for another plate.

Everyday Memphis Moments

The hot bar isn’t just about the food — it’s about the community it feeds.

  • Picture a group of coworkers standing in line, laughing as they decide who’s getting the last piece of lemon-butter fish.
  • Imagine a mom with two kids in tow, picking up fried chicken and mac & cheese for a weeknight dinner that everyone’s happy about.
  • Or neighbors running into each other in line, catching up while their plates are being filled.

It’s everyday Memphis life, served hot and ready.

Fireworks, Flavor & Frugal Feasts: Your 4th of July Party Starts at Cash Saver

There’s nothing quite like the Fourth of July in Memphis. Fireworks light up the night sky, grills fire up across the city, and porches buzz with family, friends, and good food.

At Memphis Cash Saver, we’re here to help you throw a party that’s long on flavor—and short on stress. Whether you’re cooking out in the backyard, heading to the river for fireworks, or throwing a block party with the whole neighborhood, we’ve got everything you need to make this 4th sparkle—without blowing your budget.

Watermelon: The Unofficial Star of the Holiday

It’s just not the Fourth without watermelon—and we’ve got bins of big, beautiful, seedless melons ready for slicing. Keep it classic with thick wedges, or get fancy with cubes, fruit skewers, or a festive red-white-and-blue salad with berries and mint.

Pick one with a big yellow spot on the side—that’s how you know it’s been sweetening up in the sun.

Wieners + Sausage = Grill Goals

Hot dogs and 4th of July go together like fireworks and oohs & ahhs. Stock up on Oscar Mayer Wieners—only $1.33 a pack! You can feed a crowd without the fuss. Toss them on the grill or keep it simple with a boiled dog and all the fixings.

Want to step it up? Grab King’s smoked sausage or Polska kielbasa for the grown-up grillers in the group. Slice ‘em, char ‘em, and serve them up with a little spicy mustard or BBQ sauce. Easy. Delicious. Crowd-pleasing.

Bush’s Baked Beans: “Roll That Beautiful Bean Footage”

No 4th of July spread is complete without Bush’s Baked Beans. We’ve got shelves full—Original, Brown Sugar, Country Style, BBQ—and at just $1.78 a can, you can load up for less. Heat them up on the stove or doctor them up in a slow cooker with onions and bacon for that homemade touch.

Pro tip: Pop them in a foil pan and slide them right onto the grill for a smoky sidekick to your sausages and dogs.

Milo’s Tea: Southern Sips to Keep You Cool

Memphis summers are no joke, and staying cool is key. Keep your cooler stocked with gallon jugs of Milo’s Famous Sweet Tea, Turkey Hill Lemonade, and iced tea blends for every taste bud. At just a few bucks a jug, it’s an easy way to keep the whole crew hydrated and happy.

Want to get creative? Try mixing tea and lemonade for a DIY Arnold Palmer, or toss in some fresh fruit for a pitcher of backyard punch.

Bomb Pops for the Win

Kids, adults, even the neighbor’s dog—everyone loves a Bomb Pop. These classic red, white, and blue popsicles scream summer, and at $2.26 for a box of 12, you can pass them around without thinking twice.

From watermelon and Nerds flavors to the OG rocket pop, we’ve got something for every sweet tooth—and plenty to keep your freezer stocked all July long.

Simple, Affordable, & Ready to Roll

At Memphis Cash Saver, we know that hosting a holiday get-together can be stressful—but it doesn’t have to be. Our shelves are stocked with real food at real good prices, so you can focus on the fun without breaking the bank.

So swing by. Fill up your cart with all the good stuff:
