From Deviled Eggs to Dessert: Memphis Thanksgiving Made Easy

A Midtown Holiday Menu Made With Love

Thanksgiving in Midtown Memphis has its own kind of magic. It is porch lights glowing at dusk, kids racing across leaves in the front yard, and kitchens warming up long before the guests arrive. At Memphis Cash Saver, we love being part of the traditions that make this holiday feel like home. So this year, we pulled together a full Thanksgiving menu using featured items from our November circular. Think of it as your one stop shop for feeding the whole family with Memphis heart.

Start With Appetizers Everyone Knows

Every good Thanksgiving begins with a snack spread. It keeps hungry family members from wandering into the kitchen asking when dinner will be ready. Fill your starters table with:

  • Deviled eggs made with fresh eggs and Blue Plate Mayo
  • A big salad using Dole Classic Romaine or Greener Selection Salad, tomatoes on the vine, Best Choice croutons, and Kraft salad dressing
  • Knott’s Pimento Cheese in original or jalapeno with crackers

And yes, we know the rule. There must be a salad at Thanksgiving. It must be placed on the table in a nice bowl. Someone must pretend to take some. Will anyone actually eat it? That remains one of the great holiday mysteries.

The Main Event Begins With Ham

If your family prefers ham to turkey, we have you covered. Cook’s Smoked Ham comes in both butt and shank portions and fills your home with that classic holiday aroma the moment it goes into the oven. Slice it thick, serve it warm, and watch it disappear faster than you expected.

Sides That Steal the Spotlight

Everyone knows the sides are the real stars of Thanksgiving. No matter how beautiful the ham is, nothing compares to the comfort of a full Southern spread. Stock up on:

  • Fresh Turnip, Mustard, and Collard Greens
  • Best Choice Cranberry Sauce in whole berry or jellied
  • Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix
  • Wonder Dinner Rolls in the classic 12 count package

These are the dishes that never disappoint. They are the flavors that bring people back to the table for seconds and maybe even thirds.

Dessert To End the Night Right

You are already halfway to dessert heaven with Pillsbury Pie Crusts in regular and deep dish. Add Prairie Farms Egg Nog or Holiday Custard to sip alongside your pie and you have a sweet finish everyone will love.

If you need pie inspiration, here’s a great recipe from Julia Child herself.

Julia Child Inspired Fluffy Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 Pillsbury deep dish pie crust
  • 1 can pumpkin puree
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • Sugar
  • Pumpkin pie spice
  • A splash of milk or evaporated milk
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Bake your pie crust according to package directions and let it cool.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the pumpkin, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, egg yolks, milk, and salt until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until they form soft peaks.
  4. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the pumpkin mixture. This is the magic step that creates the fluffy, cloud like texture.
  5. Pour the filling into the cooled crust and bake at 350 degrees until set. The center will jiggle slightly but should not be liquid.
  6. Cool completely before slicing.

Whether your table is filled with family, neighbors, coworkers, or friends who feel like home, Memphis Cash Saver is here to make your Thanksgiving delicious, warm, and wonderfully Memphis.

Cozy Up, Memphis: Chili Season Starts at Cash Saver

The air is getting cooler, football is on every weekend, and kitchens across Memphis are starting to smell like simmering spices. It is officially chili season.

Whether you have a blue-ribbon recipe that has been passed down for generations or you are just throwing together a hearty pot for game day, Cash Saver has everything you need to make a batch that keeps the whole crew warm and happy.

Build Your Base

Every good chili starts with the basics. Stock up on:

  • Fresh ground beef or turkey, rich and hearty as the foundation of a great pot
  • Onion, garlic, and peppers, diced up for that flavor punch
  • Canned tomatoes, whether crushed, diced, or fire-roasted
  • Tomato paste, for that deep, slow-cooked flavor

Beans or No Beans?

That is the age-old chili debate. Either way, Cash Saver has you covered:

  • Kidney beans, pinto beans, or black beans for a classic chili with beans
  • Skip the beans for a Texas-style version with just meat, spice, and tomato

Spice It Just Right

Chili is all about the seasoning. Make sure your spice rack is stocked with:

  • Chili powder, cumin, paprika, and garlic powder
  • Crushed red pepper or hot sauce for a Memphis-style kick
  • Salt and pepper to balance it all out

Pro tip: Add a fresh jalapeño or two for extra heat.

Toppings That Take It Over the Top

The fun part of chili is dressing it up. Swing by the dairy case, produce section, and bakery aisle for:

  • Shredded cheese
  • Sour cream
  • Green onions
  • Jalapeños
  • Crackers or cornbread (a box mix makes baking easy)

For an extra Memphis twist, serve your chili over spaghetti or a baked potato for a true Southern comfort classic.

Do Not Forget the Extras

A big pot of chili pairs perfectly with other fall favorites you will find at Cash Saver:

  • Fritos or Doritos for chili pie
  • Nature’s Own Bread for buttered toast on the side
  • Pepsi, Coke, or sweet tea to wash it all down
  • Nestlé Toll House Cookie Dough for dessert while the chili simmers

Two Easy Chili Recipes to Try

Classic Chili with Beans

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 2 cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, brown the meat with onion, garlic, and bell pepper until cooked through.
  2. Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beans.
  3. Add chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Simmer on low for 30–45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve hot with shredded cheese, sour cream, and cornbread.

White Bean Chicken Chili

Ingredients:

  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 cans low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 can diced green chilies
  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 pkg Neufchatel cheese (aka light cream cheese), cut into small cubes
  • 1 1/4 cup frozen or fresh corn
  • 2 cans cannellini beans
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded cooked rotisserie or left-over chicken
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro, plus more for serving
  • Tortilla chips or strips, monterrey jack cheese, sliced avocado for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add onion and saute 4 minutes minutes. Add garlic and saute 30 seconds longer.
  2. Add chicken broth, green chilies, cumin, paprika, oregano, coriander, cayenne pepper and season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring mixture just to a boil then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 15 minutes.
  3. Drain and rinse beans in a fine mesh strainer or colander then measure out 1 cup.
  4. Add Neufchatel cheese to soup along with corn, whole beans and pureed beans and stir well. Simmer 5 – 10 minutes longer.
  5. Stir in chicken, fresh lime juice and cilantro. Serve with Monterrey Jack cheese, more cilantro, avocado slices and tortilla chips if desired.

Tailgate Like a Champ with Memphis Cash Saver

Football season in Memphis is more than just a game. It’s a tradition. It’s Tigers blue crowding Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium (…The Liberty Bowl). It’s a backyard grill fired up before kickoff. It’s folding chairs, coolers, laughter, and the smell of smoky sausages in the air.

Around here, tailgating isn’t just about food. It’s about community. At Memphis Cash Saver, we’re here to make sure your tailgate is stocked with everything you need, from grill-ready meats to icy cold drinks and snacks that keep everyone cheering until the final whistle.

Fire Up the Grill

Every great Memphis tailgate starts with the sizzle. Cash Saver keeps the grill stacked with all the classics:

  • Circle B Smoked Sausage — A Memphis favorite, hearty enough to feed a crowd. Slice it, grill it, and serve it with a side of mustard.
  • Banquet Brown ’N Serve Sausage — Quick, easy, and perfect for early kickoffs or breakfast tailgates.
  • Hamburger patties & buns — Load ‘em up with cheese, onions, and pickles for that backyard bite.
  • Hot dogs & buns — Because no tailgate is complete without kids running around with ketchup-stained smiles.

And don’t forget to grab Nature’s Own Bread for sandwiches, sausage rolls, and those late-game snack plates when everyone’s coming back for seconds.

Snacks That Go the Distance

When the game gets tight, you need fuel that’s easy to grab between high-fives. Stock your table with:

  • Doritos Tortilla Chips and Pringles — bold flavors and crunch you can hear over the crowd.
  • Creamy dips and spreads — queso, guac, salsa, and Pancho’s Cheese Dip, the Memphis legend.
  • Fresh-baked cookies from Nestlé Toll House Dough — warm, gooey, and perfect for halftime.

Pro tip: Lay out a mix of salty, savory, and sweet so there’s something for every fan in your crew.

Cold Drinks, Hot Crowd

You know Memphis heat doesn’t stop just because it’s fall. Keep the cooler ready with something for everybody:

  • Outlaw Light Beer — easy-drinking and tailgate-tested.
  • Miller Lite or Coors Light — in 16 oz. aluminum bottles that stay cold longer.
  • Modelo Especial — a smooth, flavorful pick for the whole team.
  • Stella Rosa Wines — a game day twist for fans who want something sweet in their glass.

Non-alcoholic fans don’t miss out either:

  • Turkey Hill Tea or Lemonade — classic Southern sips.
  • Pepsi, Mountain Dew, or Starry 12-packs — keep the fizz flowing.
  • Lipton Tea bottles — portable and refreshing.
  • Fanta, Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Dr Pepper 2-liters — crowd staples that never go out of style.

Memphis Game Day Essentials

Every Memphian knows it’s the little extras that make the tailgate. Stock up on:

  • Condiments like BBQ sauce (of course), ketchup, and mustard.
  • Paper goods and plastic cups so cleanup doesn’t steal your post-game mood.
  • Ice, ice, and more ice. Nobody wants warm beer in the third quarter.

And since this is Memphis, don’t be surprised if somebody shows up with a portable speaker blasting Al Green or Three 6 Mafia. It’s just how we do tailgates here: food, music, and family all in one.

Tailgating Made Easy

At Memphis Cash Saver, we know game day isn’t just about football. It’s about tradition, pride, and a spread that feeds the whole block without draining your wallet. That’s why we keep our shelves loaded with tailgate-ready favorites, so all you need to worry about is cheering until your voice gives out.

Pack your cooler, fire up the grill, and swing by Cash Saver before kickoff. We’ll help you put together a tailgate that’s Memphis through and through: flavorful, fun, and easy on your budget.

Hot, Fresh, and Full of Flavor: Memphis Cash Saver’s Hot Bar

If you’ve ever walked into Memphis Cash Saver around lunchtime, you know where the crowd is. The grocery aisles are steady, sure, but the real action is at the hot bar. The glass is fogged, the trays are steaming, and the line is full of folks who know this is the best spot in Midtown for comfort food that tastes homemade without the hassle.

For regulars, it’s more than just a quick meal. The Cash Saver hot bar has become part of the rhythm of the neighborhood — where coworkers swing by on their lunch break, families pick up dinner after a long day, and Sunday churchgoers stop in for plates piled high with Southern classics.

Always Chicken, Always Fresh

One thing you can count on every day is Rick’s 5-Star Fried Chicken. Crispy, golden, and seasoned just right, it’s a Midtown staple and the star of the hot bar. It’s the kind of chicken that crunches on the outside, stays juicy on the inside, and has built a loyal following all its own.

Rotating Flavors That Keep It Interesting

While the chicken holds down its spot, the rest of the hot bar lineup changes regularly, which means there’s always something new to try. Depending on the day, you might find:

  • Fried or lemon-butter baked fish fillets topped with slices of lemon
  • Slow-cooked ribs or turkey legs, tender and hearty
  • Soul food staples like chitterlings, pepper steak, or oxtail
  • Southern sides including mac & cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, candied yams, dressing, and cornbread

Every visit brings a slightly different spread, so there’s always a reason to come back for another plate.

Everyday Memphis Moments

The hot bar isn’t just about the food — it’s about the community it feeds.

  • Picture a group of coworkers standing in line, laughing as they decide who’s getting the last piece of lemon-butter fish.
  • Imagine a mom with two kids in tow, picking up fried chicken and mac & cheese for a weeknight dinner that everyone’s happy about.
  • Or neighbors running into each other in line, catching up while their plates are being filled.

It’s everyday Memphis life, served hot and ready.

Why Folks Keep Coming Back

The Cash Saver hot bar makes it easy to get real food, fast. No long waits. No stress in the kitchen. Just fresh, homestyle cooking that fills your plate without emptying your wallet. It’s comfort food that’s convenient, consistent, and rooted in the flavors Memphis loves most.

Hot. Fresh. Convenient.

Next time hunger hits, skip the drive-thru and head straight for the hot bar at Memphis Cash Saver. Whether it’s a quick lunch, an easy family dinner, or a pickup for your next get-together, you’ll find fresh choices, friendly service, and plenty of Memphis soul in every bite.

Hot food. Fresh flavors. Cash Saver convenience. That’s how we do it in Memphis.

Fireworks, Flavor & Frugal Feasts: Your 4th of July Party Starts at Cash Saver

There’s nothing quite like the Fourth of July in Memphis. Fireworks light up the night sky, grills fire up across the city, and porches buzz with family, friends, and good food.

At Memphis Cash Saver, we’re here to help you throw a party that’s long on flavor—and short on stress. Whether you’re cooking out in the backyard, heading to the river for fireworks, or throwing a block party with the whole neighborhood, we’ve got everything you need to make this 4th sparkle—without blowing your budget.

Watermelon: The Unofficial Star of the Holiday

It’s just not the Fourth without watermelon—and we’ve got bins of big, beautiful, seedless melons ready for slicing. Keep it classic with thick wedges, or get fancy with cubes, fruit skewers, or a festive red-white-and-blue salad with berries and mint.

Pick one with a big yellow spot on the side—that’s how you know it’s been sweetening up in the sun.

Wieners + Sausage = Grill Goals

Hot dogs and 4th of July go together like fireworks and oohs & ahhs. Stock up on Oscar Mayer Wieners—only $1.33 a pack! You can feed a crowd without the fuss. Toss them on the grill or keep it simple with a boiled dog and all the fixings.

Want to step it up? Grab King’s smoked sausage or Polska kielbasa for the grown-up grillers in the group. Slice ‘em, char ‘em, and serve them up with a little spicy mustard or BBQ sauce. Easy. Delicious. Crowd-pleasing.

Bush’s Baked Beans: “Roll That Beautiful Bean Footage”

No 4th of July spread is complete without Bush’s Baked Beans. We’ve got shelves full—Original, Brown Sugar, Country Style, BBQ—and at just $1.78 a can, you can load up for less. Heat them up on the stove or doctor them up in a slow cooker with onions and bacon for that homemade touch.

Pro tip: Pop them in a foil pan and slide them right onto the grill for a smoky sidekick to your sausages and dogs.

Milo’s Tea: Southern Sips to Keep You Cool

Memphis summers are no joke, and staying cool is key. Keep your cooler stocked with gallon jugs of Milo’s Famous Sweet Tea, Turkey Hill Lemonade, and iced tea blends for every taste bud. At just a few bucks a jug, it’s an easy way to keep the whole crew hydrated and happy.

Want to get creative? Try mixing tea and lemonade for a DIY Arnold Palmer, or toss in some fresh fruit for a pitcher of backyard punch.

Bomb Pops for the Win

Kids, adults, even the neighbor’s dog—everyone loves a Bomb Pop. These classic red, white, and blue popsicles scream summer, and at $2.26 for a box of 12, you can pass them around without thinking twice.

From watermelon and Nerds flavors to the OG rocket pop, we’ve got something for every sweet tooth—and plenty to keep your freezer stocked all July long.

And guess what? You don’t have to prep, pack, or stress. Memphis Cash Saver has everything you need to pull together a delicious, affordable, and totally laid-back picnic—no oven or recipe required. Just swing by our hot bar and grab-n-go sections, and let the good times (and tunes) roll.

Why the Shell is the Spot

If you know, you know. The Overton Park Shell is one of the most iconic music venues in Memphis—and it’s totally free. It’s where Elvis played his first paid gig. It’s where families gather, couples date, and communities come together under the big Memphis sky.

And the best part? You can bring your own food and drinks. Which means you can pack your cooler with Southern comfort favorites, crowd-pleasers, and snacks that don’t break the bank.

Step One: Hit the Hot Bar

There’s no shame in skipping the stovetop, especially when our hot bar is cooking up some of the best fried chicken, baked fish, wings, and Southern sides in town.

Options include:

  • Rick’s 5-Star Fried Chicken – Crispy, golden, and served with soul. Get a 2-piece snack box, a full dinner plate, or a family-size box to share. (Trust us: this chicken travels well.)
  • Lemon Butter Fish Fillets – For a lighter option that still delivers flavor, these fillets are tender, tangy, and made fresh.
  • Southern-style sides – Mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, mac & cheese, and golden biscuits? Yes, please.

Pro tip: Pick up a dinner box, split it with a friend, and use the extra biscuit to soak up the music and the gravy.

Step Two: Don’t Sleep on the Grab-N-Go

Looking to round out your basket with a little variety? Our grab-n-go section is your new picnic hero. It’s stocked with fresh salads, snack trays, and easy bites that are ready to roll.

Perfect picnic picks:

  • Chef & Cobb Salads – Light, filling, and packed with flavor. Just grab a fork and go.
  • Hormel Gatherings Charcuterie Trays – Salami, pepperoni, cheese cubes—everything you need to feel fancy while sitting cross-legged on a picnic blanket.
  • Deli Sandwiches & Wraps – Easy to pack, even easier to eat between songs.
  • XXL Meat Snacks – For your protein-loving picnic partner, these are big on size and bold on flavor.

Step Three: Pack It Up

All you need now is:

  • A cooler bag or tote
  • Some napkins (you’ll need ‘em with that hot chicken)
  • A blanket or lawn chair
  • A drink or two (we’ve got sodas, juices, and mixers right by checkout)
  • Your people

That’s it. You’re Shell-ready.

Oh, and if you forgot something—forks, ice, Solo cups—we’ve got that too.

Fire Up the Fun: Your Memorial Day Grill Out Starts at Cash Saver!

Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner, and you know what that means—grill out season is officially ON! It’s all about good food, cold drinks, and spending time with the people who make life sweet. Whether you’re feeding the whole block or just your closest crew, Cash Saver is your one-stop shop for everything you need to fire up the grill and kick back without breakin’ the bank.

Grillin’ and Chillin’

First things first—let’s talk about what’s goin’ on the grill. You can’t go wrong with good ol’ fashioned fresh ground beef for burgers. Throw on some Kings Franks for the kids (and the kids at heart), and if you really want to bring the Memphis flavor, grill up a few slices of Kings Bologna. Stack it all on soft Wonder Buns, and you’re in business. Don’t forget the fixings: Kraft Mayo and Miracle Whip, depending on your team, plus Kraft BBQ Sauce to keep things saucy.

Sides That Steal the Show

No cookout is complete without those snackable sides and zesty dips. Lays Chips are always a safe bet—grab a few bags and watch ’em disappear. No Memphis get-together is complete without Pancho’s Cheese Dip. That’s just a fact. Sweet Vidalia onions and fresh strawberries bring a little color to your spread and taste like summer on a plate.

Kick Back

If you’re firing up a charcoal grill, make it easy on yourself with Best Choice Charcoal—it gets the job done without the fuss. And once that smoke starts rolling, it’s time to pop the tops and fill the coolers. Grab a pack (or three) of Busch Beer for easy sipping, or toss in some Daily’s Frozen Cocktails if you’re feeling fancy. Coke and Sprite are here for the whole family, ice-cold and classic.

Cool Off

When it’s time to cool off, swing by the freezer aisle. Bomb Pops are a throwback that hits the spot on a hot afternoon, and you can’t beat Hiland Ice Cream for a little something sweet to end the day.

This Memorial Day, come see us at Cash Saver. We’ve got all the flavors of the season at prices that leave room for seconds—and maybe even thirds. Whether you’re grillin’ in the backyard, hangin’ on the porch, or headin’ to the lake, we’ve got you covered.

From our Memphis family to yours—happy grillin’, y’all.
